My Grandfather was a fighter pilot

This is a school interview that I recently did with my Grandpa John. My grandpa is the 3rd man from the left standing up.

My Grandpa John was a fighter pilot in both the Vietnam and Korean wars. He spent a lot of time studying for pilot training. He was enlisted in 1948. First the Korean war and later he served in the Vietnam war.I did a interview with him on May 10, 2012.

 “Were did you serve?”
“I served in Japan for about 2 and a half years, then went to the Korean war for about 1 year.”

“Do you remember what it was like when you first arrived?”
“Yes, it was terrible we were all living in tents. Then the Chinese came and we all had to evacuate.”

“Were you ever injured?”
“no.”

“Were there any casualties in your unit?”
“Yes, we lost 6 pilots and some ground men.”

“What was the food like?”
“It was good but I liked it better in the Vietnam.”

“Did you feel pressure or stress?”
“Yes, because when people are shooting at me I felt pressure and stress.”

“Where did you travel while in the service?”
“I went to the states, then to Japan and from Japan to Korea.”

“Do you recall the year that your service ended?”
“Yes, it was July 1982.”

“Where were you?”
“I was in Austin Texas.”

My Grandpa was a fighter pilot. He served for 36 years. He was awarded 2 distinguished flying crosses which is the highest you can get for Air Force officers.

Living in Alabama

At the end of last year my Dad was offered a job in Montevallo, Alabama for the winter months. My parents decided that we were going to stay, because they felt God was leading them in this direction. We have a pond in the front yard that has catfish in it. We have a lot of trees and squirrels. We are just now starting to make gardens. I just made a bucket garden. A bucket garden is where you take a 5 gallon bucket and drill 7 small holes in the bottom. Then you mix compost with 2 kinds of good soil. Then you plant your vegetables or flowers; I planted jalapenos, bell peppers, and 2 different types of cucumbers.
Our next door neighbors offered me a job taking care of their horses while their gone on the weekends. They also offered for me to do the yard work. Please pray that I can make some friends out here and that this job works out.

Morgan's visit

Morgan is my friend from California. On Wednesday Morgan came to visit the village. Morgan and I had so much fun. We went swimming at the pond and ate ice cream. I had a big slumber party and we made a fire and roasted marshmallows and smores. We also told scary story's. And when we were done we sat in bed and told regular story's. In the morning everybody ate cereal and went home.
Today Morgan went back to California and I went to the Coffee shop with my Mom. I did my school work while my Mom made sandwiches. My Mom made me a Italian soda and a sandwich called the club with a bag of chips. It was so awesome.

Christmas in selmer

This year we had a lot of snow. My friend "Blue" and his dad "Wayne" built an igloo. Most of the people in Rose Creek Village built snowmen. Our house didn't build one. Instead, we went around throwing snow balls at people. There is a hill my friends and I call, "suicide hill".When you slide down it you go extremely fast. My Dad and I went to the pond and brought a bunch of kids along.
Today we are going to get slammed by some snow. I love snow don't you? Blog again later.

Thanksgiving at my Grandma's

On Wednesday my family went to my Grandma's for Thanksgiving. She has a pet dog named Bella. In Italian that means beautiful. My Grandpa gave me a statue of a ancient knight. It is made of real silver and gold!!!
In their garage little lizards hang out and have parties. I like to just come in and ruin there parties. I grab one and admire it, let it go and go home. One of the lizards changed its color to green.

The morning that we left we went to Cracker Barrel. My uncle Chris and I played checkers. Just when I was going to win..... we had to go. I will blog again soon.

Soccer is my sport

In a few days I am going to my all star soccer game. It is going to be so fun. Were going to play a team in adamsville. Were going to play three games in a row!!! Last time we played the team from Adamsville, they beat us. This time we will try harder. Papa Gabe and Mrs. Anne (his wife) are our coaches. My best position in soccer is striker. Two weeks ago we had a soccer party with all our parents. We challenged our parents to a soccer game. It was a close game. The score was 5 to 4 in our favor. After the party I felt so sick. We ate pizza, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream sandwiches and drank soda. It was a great time.

camping at Natchez trace

A few days ago we went camping at Natchez trace. I found a dotted lizard and one night my dad found a stripped skunk that was mostly white. Me and my friend went out in the woods and found a four ft long black snake. My dad, my friend Blue, and I went fishing but we couldn't catch anything so we made up a game. The game was called minnow flipping. We put our line under the minnows and then.....snap!! the minnow go's flying. The record was 20 ft. high. There was a fire band so we couldn't do any fires. So we did coals. We also roasted marshmallows and smokey's. We found sassafras roots and made sassafras tea. On the day we left we found big tunnels in the ground that we could climb in.
